Post wedding thoughts

The weather was nice and had a slight (warm) breeze. The pictures I’ve looked at came out nice. The sigma 35mm f1.4 is a nice lens and lives up to the hype. It’s fast and sharp! The bokeh isn’t super creamy but is still nice. I’ll most likely rent it again for my trip. That’ll give me enough time to see if its worth buying or not. So far so good, just wished the focus ring wasn’t so stiff.

Though it was a small wedding, I felt like a second shooter would have been useful. Things happened so quick, I found myself fumbling to switch cameras and settings. Being one person, you can only do so much. That second person gives you another perspective and covers any missed opportunities.

I have a greater respect for those that cover weddings. Being in their shoes for a day was tiring. I can’t imagine what a day would be like covering a full blown traditional wedding.

Got done packing and as usual I feel like I’m over killing it with gear. I rather be over packed than be lacking something.

Wish me luck! This is totally new territory for me and it scares me. I just have to trust my skills and have fun. Just breathe Matt, breathe…

Wedding Help

Question for those who have done a wedding. I’m looking at renting a lens or two and I’m wondering if I would need a wide angle? Could I get away with the 24-70 and 70-200? I got a 11-16 I could use on my D90.

I think it would awesome because they are getting married under a huge oak tree. The issue is there is a few distractions. 1) a green house 2) part of a house/garage 3) a shed. The green house and shed isn’t bad they just turn into a giant blob of color. The house is what I’m worried about, it’s brick with a white garage door.

Trying out a new company that prints images on metal.I’m printing out an image from my co-worker’s wedding to give as a gift. She really like that picture and even made it her facebook cover page (booyah mr. bully photographer). Pretty excited to see how photos of people turn out on metal.

on another note, I’m still adjusting to this new camera, I find myself still stumbling around to find the settings I want to dial in. I just need some time to more time with the camera. Along with putting in time to develop the website.

So much to do, so little time. Story of my life….
